Selborne Grooming brings a fully equipped grooming setup to you, in your home, garage or garden. Your dog stays somewhere they know, with no crates, no salon noise and no waiting around.
Based in Sidcup, serving South East London, Kent, Surrey and surrounding areas. Not sure if I cover your area? Just ask.
For your dog. Your dog stays in familiar surroundings, with no unfamiliar dogs or people around them, no car journeys, and no waiting in a pen to be collected. Grooming can be a stressful day for a dog, and by working one-to-one with your dog I can build confidence and trust over each visit.
For you. A trip to the salon usually means four journeys: there and back to drop your dog off, then there and back again to collect them. If you work from home, have a busy schedule, or simply find getting to a salon difficult, skip the choreography and have the salon come to you instead.
For your peace of mind. It is natural to wonder what goes on behind the salon door. With in-home grooming, nothing happens out of sight. You are welcome to check in whenever you like.
I bring a full professional setup, including a folding grooming table and dryer.
To give your dog the best groom, I will need:
Space: a clear area of at least 2m x 2m with a flat, non-slip floor, such as a kitchen, utility room, conservatory or garage. I clean up all hair and leave your space as I found it.
Power: a mains socket within 10m of the grooming area.
Water: access to warm running water (a bath, shower or large sink) for bathing.
Parking: a space close to your door. Please tell me about permit zones or restrictions when booking.
Point of contact: an adult must be at home when I arrive, and reachable by phone throughout.
A quiet area: other pets and young children kept out of the grooming area while I work, for everyone's safety.
Time: Most full grooms take 2 to 3 hours. Before I start, your dog has time to sniff my equipment and get to know me. I allow time for surprises, rests, water and toilet breaks in your garden where possible, but some dogs will just need a little extra time.
Most, but it depends on a few things:
Size and temperament. My grooming table is a fixed height, so I cannot safely lift dogs heavier than 15kg onto it. A larger dog who is calm and well behaved can often step up from a sturdy chair, or I can groom them on the floor instead.
Your bathing area. If your dog is particularly large or has a very thick coat, you may prefer not to have them bathed in your own bathroom. I am happy to talk this through when you get in touch.
